Unit 2 - 2.3 Magazine Covers

Magazines are general interest publications that publish a variety of content to appeal to a diverse audience. They come out weekly or monthly and there are thousands of them vying for your attention.

When designing a magazine cover you should add:

  1. The masthead or logo of a magazine (the first and most important thing)

  2. Attractive datelines and cover lines (content blurbs or teasers) that entice readers to read the articles.

  3. A photograph that draws attention to the primary feature piece and promotes it.

  4. In addition to the magazine, there is a barcode.

Reflection: Magazine covers are important because we are trying to target attention.
