More than 160 years have passed since photography was invented. I have learned that the word photography is derived from the Greek words photos meaning light and graphe meaning to draw.
1711 - 1805: Tom Wedgwood was one of the first people to have attempted to capture an image chemically by treating paper and leaving it in the sunlight. However, this process called Sun Pictures only managed to produce black and white silhouettes of the images
1816: Nicephore Niepce, from France, was the first person to produce a negative image. He developed a light-sensitive solution that was used to coat a pewter plate, this was then exposed to light for 8 hours. The plate was washed off with solvents to dissolve the unexposed solution and produce a print.
1854: In Paris, France, the first portrait studio opened, sparking a worldwide boom in studios. The exposure duration was cut in half, from a few minutes to two or three seconds.
Many different people experimented with perfecting the photographic image during this time period.
1880: George Eastman set up the Eastman Dry Plate Company.
1900: The Kodak brownie box camera was introduced to the public.
1932: The idea of technicolor for movies was introduced.
1935: Eastman Kodak introduced Kodachrome film for color prints.
1982: Sony introduced the Mavic Video Camera.
2001: The Polaroid film company went bankrupt.
2008: Apple released its iPhone with a camera.
Wow the timeline is very well explained and simple. Amazing Job!
